Sold my house, free to go

Finally, after 2 moves in 3 weeks, pfff, I can start planning my new challenge. Three years after the first big trip my goals are set on Mongolia. All the stories I’ve read and the pictures I’ve seen are inviting me to go there.

This time my dear friend Marika stays home. I’m on my own now. Scary and exciting at the same time. So no M&M … I can’t get it done to replace Marika for Motorbike so I chose for another name that fits better to this adventure. After some struggling years I really am up to some Taste Of Freedom! (TOF in Dutch stands for ‘great’)

Going on my own with a limited budget asks for a different way of traveling. More back to basic, more camping where possible. To be honest, this for me is the scary part. I’ve been camping everywhere in the EU, but in Asia… I really am anxious to know how it’s going to be.

The route:

In my head I’ve planned a route, the question is if it’s doable. I’d like to drive through Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirgizstan, Kazakhstan or China to Mongolia. The way back: China, Tibet, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, India etc.

I’d love to drive the Pamir Highway and visit the beautiful cities in the Stan-countries. My experiences of the Indian trip are not very positive concerning the visa apply, so hopefully this time it will work out fine.

There is a lot to organize and that’s what I’m busy with right now. The paperwork, another motorbike, gear and I have to get myself in shape. Last year was very stressful so my physical condition is in need of some updating.

So, lots of work to be done! I’ll keep you updated about my progresses.
